Hey everyone,

If you would, please have a listen to this noise my transmission is making, and help me diagnose it, so I can fix it if necessary. Please let me know if I should move this to trans/drivetrain subforum.


1985 Delta 88 Royale Brougham, 307 w/ 200-4R trans. I noticed this noise with the trans in reverse, not moving, foot on the brake. So I set the parking brake and shot this video to document it. It seems like sort of a surging noise and a creak. There is a sort of brief rattle when taking off from a stop in D, which I think sounds similar and may be related.

The car drives great and I don't think I hear any noises under throttle or at speed. My first thought is that maybe this is something like a loose torque converter bolt or a cracked flexplate. Thanks in advance for your help.

I played the video back to myself, to be sure I recorded what I was hearing. The sound isn't super loud. Did you play it on a phone or a computer? It's not as clear through a phone speaker. Thanks for looking though.
