Question Muffler/Resonator recommendation for 1969 Delta88 Custom Holiday

Hello,

I have to replace (at least) one rusted muffler on my 69 Delta88.

Thinking to replace both mufflers with aftermarket parts, but I am not sure whether I Need 2.25 or 2.5 in/out Diameter, as the car is not shipped to me right now, so can not check/measure.

Which one would fit and what would you recommend?
Should make a deep V8 Sound but shall not be too loud and not too expensive.

Any recommendations?

BTW: Had the 1969 88 CustomHoliday dual exhaust as Standard?

The only way that car would have dual exhaust factory is if it were ordered that way or had the police package on it. It was not standard. You could go duals with stock mufflers 2.25 inch OD pipes and no resonators and it would be a little throaty. Dual exhaust with resonators would be my choice. In order to properly run dual exhaust you need to purchase the S exhaust manifold for the driver's side. It is made reproduction now and was quite hard to find before.

The starfire manifold. You better wait to see what is on the car first....

Here's a photo of the exhaust systems available for 69 Delta.... You didn't say which engine you had 350 or 455... According to one source I have only the 455 had dual exhaust.... You can somewhat determine the pipe sizes by the clamp size used.....

My response is assuming it is a 455. That manifold is not used on the 350 engine.

Hey Guys,

thanks so far !

...it is a 455 and I talked to my buddy that has inspected her for me.
--> It has a dual installed !

So any recommendations regarding manufacturer/type of muffler I should use?
e.g. flowmaster, magna flow, flow tech or whatever and which type should be used?

Thanks in advance !

Michael

If it were me I would go with stock mufflers..... otherwise it will be louder than an 88 Custom should be in my opinion. You dont need noise to have a strong engine with power. But some people like noise.

If you get stock mufflers and dont use resonators it may give the sound you want. You can always add the resonators later.... I use Classic Exhaust for my exhaust systems and mufflers. I dont know if they ship overseas...

Shipping would be no issue as my Buddy is working and living for the next year in California. As the car is not shipped yet, he could install the part or pack it into the trunk, or he also could ship it to me...

Regarding "Classic Exhaust" it Looks they are just offering complete Systems, but I just Need the muffler itself on the right side (should be #21380 shown in the attachment from CRUZN 66) - any idea where to get this part for a fair price?
