More post-winter issues!
More post-winter issues!
OK so a couple more potential issues following todays drive...
First, my car is low...I mean real low. No, it was not lowered by teh 90 year old guy I got it from! The lowest point on the car seems to be the tailpipes and the mufflers. I am wondering if I got sme bad *** spring sag. How far off the ground should my great beastie sit: say from the frame just in front of the rear tires to te ground?
Secondly, tonight I parked on a slight angle along a curb with the passenger side of the car a bit lower than the driver side. Noticied a steady drip of fuel coming from the gas tank, source unknown but looked like somewhere from up top of the right front of the tank. About an hour later it seemed to have stopped and back home in the drive way could not replicate (more level). Gotta a pretty full tank and was wondering if this could have been coming out of the sending unit? The angle was not steep by any means
Thanks as per guys!

Can you remind us again what car you have?
About the fuel leak, it could be from the vent ports. There are often one or two short lengths of fuel line attached to the ports and routed up under the car where they terminate. This is to prevent fuel from leaking out of those ports, and if the vent lines are cracked and old or just missing altogether, you might get a leak like this, especially if the tank is full or near full as you say. Those vents are often on the right-front side of the tank, so if the passenger side was lower than the driver side as you say, that would only increase the likelihood that fuel would come out of those vents.
It's unlikely to be a leak at the sending unit itself as that's usually right on top of the tank.
The only way to tell for sure is to get under there and look.

I thought this was the case, but I wasn't sure. I have the same car, except it's a convertible. But the vent system I described is what's on my car, so it's exactly the same on yours. I would guess that your gasoline leak is very probably from one of the vent ports on the right front corner of the tank.
As far as ride height, yes, the chassis service manual shows that it should be 9.65 inches between the ground and the bottom of the chrome trim piece (not the bottom of the frame) measured at a point directly below the leading edge of the front doors.
The other place it shows to measure is at a point 70 inches behind the point above, and the height should again be 9.65 inches.
