making a custom billet grille for my delta 88

well a friend was getting rid of his s10 chevy blazer he had one of those really nice billet grilles like in the picture so he let me get it for free, so since its metal im cutting it to size and putting it on my olds, but im still keeping the original grille chrome edges that got around the grille and using the billet grille as an insert, hopefully it comes out nice i'll post pictures when its done, worlds first billet grille for a 84 olds delta 88

heres the pictures of the grilles on the car, its still a little rough but this is it, yes one half of the grille was cracked in half was from a previous accident thats why i had to make a new grille out of the this old shell, i'm thinking about making these grilles for sale in the future as i've never seen a grille like this for a delta 88, actually i have never seen any aftermarket grille for the 80's delta 88 well let me know what you think guys

I'd love to see a wider shot of the car so we can all see the "big picture" of your work.

Exactly what I was looking for! Looks awesome. That's definitely one of a kind, without looking too custom.

thanks man it was a lot of hard work trying to cut it without damaging the rest of the grille but i got it done, if you try this best use a dremel tool with reinforced cutting wheels, i went through 50 reg. cut off wheels, 10 reinforced, and 5 of some other reinforced wheels, but in the end it was worth it

Wow, and I thought I was the only one in the country thinking about this idea for my Olds! I considered getting an '82 grille since they sorta resemble the tube grille. That's why I don't have those grilles in the nose quite yet. Looking for good conditioned '82 Olds Delta 88 grilles to add bars to in between.

1low88: i didnt keep grille chrome because the chrome finish was dull and scratched so black was easier.
KustomRocket88: the grille came from a 81 diesel delta 88, it was the old style with the rectangular squares in the middle i had a mini accident the inner part of the grille was in pieces so i broke it apart until all was left was the frame of the grille and then cut and installed a aftermarket chevy s10/blazer billet grille in the 81 delta 88 grille frame
HolidayCoupe: thanks man appreciate it i should make them for sale haha if i decide to do so all you guys on classicolds will know first.
Redog: I'm in hammonton NJ close to a.c exit 28 on the a/c expressway, why are you close by? do you still have the 350 olds engine from the delta 88(RIP) if so i might be interested in buying it, ol betsy's currently in the garage with a blown transmission and 307 thats on its way out as well, i want to get her back on the street someday so let me know.
car_designer: thanks man it took a while to make and i went throiugh about 100 dremel tool cut off wheels to make it but it was all worth it
