how to remove and replace a heater core 84 olds delta 88

my heater core is clogged time for a new one, im wondering if the top of the cover of the a/c/heater which the blower motor sits on comes off after unscrewing everything, and how would i go about bleeding the air out of the radiator, lines, heater core all that stuff,

You're on the right track. Take the top off the heater/AC plenum and you should be able to lift the core out for replacement. You may have to remove the RH wiper but I've always been able to R&R the core without doing that.

The system should bleed itself as the radiator cap is roughly the same level as the top of the core. Fill the recovery jug and drive normally, and the system should purge out any entrained air over a couple of days. When the recovery jug level holds steady, system is purged.

Are you sure your heater core is plugged? Obviously you can check the temperature of the inlet and outlet hoses to be sure. A more common failure on these cars is that the bellcrank that operates the temperature blend door breaks. Remove the glovebox insert and follow the temperature control cable to where it ends on the heater box. Move the temp lever back and forth while checking that the bellcrank moves accordingly.
