How much power?

I was just reading a few other threads and it got me thinking again of my Delta goal.

I want to be able to pull the front end off the ground on a launch, but still have the car streetable.

I know it comes down to power, suspension, slicks, and convertor in addition of the torque to do all that.

I'm not looking to do bumper stands with the car, I just want to be able to pick up the front end enough that it's noticeable. 6 inches, 12 inches, at the most 2 feet. IMHO I think that looks sooo much cooler than a car that can look at the sky on a launch

I like the 2300 stall convertor for my Delta, but I could do a 2800 or 3000 stall when the time comes. How is the convertor when it comes to street driving? Does it hurt it by crusing under the stall speed? I heard it does

Olds 330 Hi Compression will be going in. Stock cam.

.434/.432 cam, but I forget at what RPM it will make all it's torque. I want to say 3200, but I forget

I will be rebuilding the engine in the future, or dropping in a BBO.

Picking up the front end isn't as important now, as it would be wit hthe finished product

Can't comment on the front end lift on launch, other than I think it's pretty damn cool..

Cruising excessively under the stall speed will cause extra heat generation in the torque converter. The impeller and turbine speeds do not match until you hit your stall RPM. Until then you will have fluid shear. Actually, even at stall speed, w/o a lockup TC to physically lock engine to trans input you really only achieve 9/10:1 fluid "lockup". Anyway... not to ramble but an add on trans cooler would help greatly!

Good luck with you goal, I'd love to see a Delta do that! I'd love mine to launch better... I blame my 2.73:1 rear and the weight...
