Here's a cowl tag for you
This popped up on the AACA forum today. Cowl tag decoders will note that this is a 1966 Olds Delta 88 Holiday Sedan (four door HT) with a factory installed M20 four speed (the "L" in ACC Group 2 indicates the floor cutout for the shifter). Very cool. Awaiting further photos of the car.
Perhaps this car had a three speed if it was a option. The trailer hitch is a good clue, Cars I have had which were bought new for towing have had standard shift a few times over the years. Still a 1969 Cutlass four door three on tree 350-310hp available to me locally bought new to tow a boat.

Ok I always did and still do understand the "L" letter designates the floor hole cutout only and is silent on which floor shift transmission is specified, as you concur in your first post. I never knew the M-20 was the only option for big car four speed and then column only for three speed. The "L" again doesn't indicate any of that specifically, even if one determines the transmission choices with option paperwork subsequently.
Thanks ~
In the 1966 model year, the M14 Dearborn top loader three speed was the base equipment trans in the Delta 88 line. It was only available with a column shifter. The only four speed manual offered was the M20 wide ratio Muncie and it was the only floor shifted manual trans available in the Delta 88 model line that year.
