VIN's from that era are pretty much useless in telling you anything you didn't already know about the car just by looking at it. All your VIN tells you is that you have a 1961 Super 88 built at Lansing, Michigan.

Post a photo of the body cowl tag (under the hood on the firewall on the driver's side) as that will have codes on it with more info about the car.

Olds made 2,624 Super 88 convertibles in 1961. This was tiny compared to the number of Dynamic 88 convertibles made at 9,049. However, this is probably due to the fact that a version of the Super 88 convertible called the Super 88 Starfire convertible was offered, and production of that was 7,600.

Starting in 1962, no convertible was offered in the Super 88 line, and the Starfire became its own series and was offered as both a coupe and a convertible.

Base price of your car was $3,592. The only engine offered on the Super 88 was a 325 hp version of the 394 "Skyrocket" V-8.

Judging from the license plate I see on that car at the far right in your photo and the fact that you're asking about exports suggests that you are not in the U.S. I don't have info on how many of these were exported. Yours also might have been shipped to wherever you are privately after the car was sold in the U.S., in which case it wouldn't show up in export records, anyway.

Go here for a free download of the 1961 Oldsmobile service manual.

You must register on the websight to download material, but it's all free. They also have a lot of other 61 Olds material available for download.

Nice car.

South of France? Nice place for a convertible!
