I've had my Delta 88 convertible for about 20 years. I haven't had to do much beyond maintenance to this point. Last summer the headlights wouldn't come on. All other lights work great but no headlights. I don't drive it at night much so I didn't worry about it but this year I want to fix them.

I looked at the fuse panel and didn't see a fuse is that correct? I also read about a breaker and/or relay. Where are these located?

Any help would be helpful. I have a diagram but I'm not good with electrical diagrams.

Check the voltage at the dimmer switch feed wire. If you have no voltage there, work your way back to the headlight switch.

 

The headlight switch has an internal self-resetting circuit breaker.

Start troubleshooting at the dimmer switch on the floor. There is a three wire connector with blue (power from the headlight switch), brown (power out to the low beams), and green (power out to the high beams) wires. Pull the connector off the switch and see if you get +12V on the blue wire with the headlight switch on. If you do, the headlight switch is fine, if not, the headlight switch is likely the problem.

If you do get power on the blue wire, jumper from blue to brown with a wire and see if the low beams come on. If they do, replace the dimmer switch. If not, find out why.

Are you SURE all the headlight bulbs are good?

 

I'm with Joe. Start with the obvious like the bulbs themselves but then move onto the dimmer switch. I just had this happen on a '75 98 I was working on. Turned out to just be the dimmer switch and the lights are fully functional again.

At your local parts store or rockauto for under $10.

 

Also if all else fails, check the ground wires from the lights to the header panel. If those get corroded the lights won't work.
