eBay replacement Carpet... Opinions?
eBay replacement Carpet... Opinions?
Thinking of picking up this carpet on eBay. Seems pretty inexpensive... anyone know anything good or bad about it? TIA

Probably not as many options for the 88 as we have on the Cutlass, but how does the price compare fusicks, year one, OPG, etc.? If comparable or even a little higher, I would go with one of the vendors that specializes on our cars in case you have problems.
Based on the Seller's location for that auction I'd say the seller is Auto Custom Carpets. They are one of the two manufacturers of the carpet sets we all purchase (the other manufacturer being Trim Parts). Fusick, Year One, Legendary, PUI, Parts Place, etc....they pretty much all sell carpets made by Auto Custom Carpets.
Same town as ACC so it's either them or a company they set up for internet or ebay sales (or a company closely related to them)

I just replaced mine two weeks ago. I went with http://www.auto-interior.com/olds14.htm#Delta88 and was very happy with it. I did some rust proofing and sound proofing at the same time and it made a big difference.
I was very happy with the fit and quality, and the mats I bought with the carpet fit perfectly. I was kind of surprised, though, that there were no holes, not even for the dimmer switch. I took my time and it came out looking great.

The concern I'd have with an ebay vendor is whether or not the carpet is returnable if it's not correct. There's always a chance that a vendor will send you the wrong item, and you need to be able to rectify that situation.
I replaced the carpeting in my '73 Custom Cruiser from this source:
http://www.varkmotors.com/
It was about $140.
They show availability for a '67 Delta as well, but the price is higher at about $175.
In my opinion, there's not too much concern from the many vendors as to whether or not the carpet will fit as the floors of these cars are pretty simple shape-wise. It's what the carpets are made of and the quality of manufacture that you want to pay attention to.
When I was looking for carpeting for my car, I just shopped around online and went with one of the lower-cost ones that had a factory match in color and material, and it turned out fine.
JC Whitney sells carpet for your car for less than $100. I'm sure they don't make it themselves, but I wouldn't necessarily hesitate to buy carpet from them, and I actually did once back in the '90s for a car I no longer own. It was a '64 Jetstar 88, and the carpet looked and fit fine. Whitney has been around a long time, and I'm sure if there were any problems, they'd work with you to get the situation straightened out.
Remember, carpeting is not a precision item like piston diameter or something like that. Nothing is ever going to fit perfectly, and you will end up doing a little snipping here and there as I did on my '73 to get it to fit just right around obstacles and pillars, tuck it under panels, and things like that.
And then remember that, once you're done, the carpet spends the rest of its time being stepped on, anyway!

As stated before, a lot of company's use ACC as a vendor. I always tlike to take advantage of FREE shipping on large items. My '72 Cutlass carpet came from them and (ACC) and is just fine. After all, it's carpet. Just find out about the return policy as mentioned before. Chumley
