I just got my baby back from a body shop yesterday after someone tagged me in a parking lot. It was a nice day so i put the top down and as i was rolling my windows down the driver's window fell off track!!!! Now i'm having a little confusion on the door panel. I'm stuck on the window cranks. How are they supposed to come off? I just don't want to get anything wrong on a car like this.

 

I believe you need the door handle remover tool to pop the clip off. A hook type tool or a bent paperclip may work in a pinch.

Go through this post and you should be able to get it apart without damaging anything.

A Rag works great for removing your window crank, The crank clip looks like a horseshoe
Just slide the rag between your panel and crank and make a saw action so it catches the ends of the horseshoe. it will pop right out and no scratching your panel

 

I heard of that before, excellent idea, low impact, less chance of damaging the door panel.

 

Wrap a piece of 1/4" rope around the shaft(behind the handle of course) & turn the crank. That clip should pop right off. I've never tried the rag idea, but it sounds like it would work about the same.

 

Buy the tool, They're cheap and you can rent it out to anyone with a GM car a make money on it.

The rag sounds like it will work, but it won't help you put the clips back on IMHO

 

If you have fingers, you shouldn't need a tool to put the clips back on.
The clip snaps in place on the crank before you put it back on the door, the tool is completely unnecessary for installing them.

 

I had learned the hard way about this long ago. After fumbling around for maybe an hour, I then noticed that the shafts were tapered and for a GOOD reason!
Put clip on handle and push handle on! (Made it easy for the factory workers...)
