Christmas?

Almost as it is christmas

Today the friendly mailman (woman) brought me some presents

Got my front and rear poly bushings and even better.
I got my new left and right exhaust manifolds from thornton
To fit my 69' 88

I'm cleaning and repainting all the parts that come loose to install the bushings.

What kind of paint did they original use in 69" a tarlike/bitumen product?
I spilled some brackfluend and the old paint seems to dissolve

And what paint can i use to paint the manifolds in original collor?

so it is a bit early but merry christmas

However, it is never too soon for parts to arrive at your front door...

First here to say, but maybe not the first with a tree up...

That goes to my neighbor nearby that had his lit up tree on 2 weeks before halloween.
Hope he had pumpkins on it...

My cousin has already started putting up Crimmus stuff at her B&B. Their local trade group does it every year. I try to stay away from her place when the Crimmus-putting-up is going on.

D, your 88 was painted with acrylic lacquer at the factory, and brake fluid will damage almost any paint.

Any high-heat cast iron gray paint will work for your manifolds. You'll have to source it in Europe as airlines class it as a hazardous substance and it can't be shipped by air from the US.

Is a paint that holds 800 degree be enough?
I can get heatproof paint from 600 til 800 Celcius.

This is what bought,

i startet cleaning my suspension parts so i can put the new bushings back in.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

i paint it with a heatresistant til 1202 F (650degree Celcius) spraypaint.

i hope this wil work, on the manual i schould bake the headers 1 hour in a oven at 320 F.

My girlfriend don't let me be to close to the stove now

and i cleaned the suspensionparts of 40 years of sand and dust.
And treated it on new paint.

It is in 1 time alu/zink etch 2 times primer 2 times black and 2 times clear.
So i hope it wil stay that way

did some parts only in alu/zink and clear.

Only stupid thing i did, I removed the bushings i tought.
Til the new bushings arived, now i stil got to take the metal tube out.

It belongs to the bushing, i tought it was a part of the lower suspensionarm

Maybe not entirely original but it looks new again.

Looking nice, D!

Just need to extract the rest of those pesky bushings... If they are not a solid tube, a big pair of pliers and a strong wrist can bend it inwards till it comes out.
Cut the paint at the joint between the arm and the bushing shell to prevent the paint from peeling off.

Thanks,

i removed the whole bushings from the other side.
But they are 40 years olds and like it there

i cut the tube piece in half and bent it inwards.

i was used to the only rubber part to exchange, not compleet with the metal tube
