boot parts? for replacmenttop
Hello,
i have a question, about a 1969 olds 88 delmont (converteble) (Delta)
i am buying a replacment top to replace my old worn converteble top.
Now i was asked what kind of boot i have.
One with velcro or one with a slide methode.
Seems both types are brought out on the 69' 88 delmont (Delta).
Now i don't now wich i have to order the velcro or the slide methode to install the boot.
i can't see any parts on my old top or frame to install the boot.
can anyone give me advice of the two types of boots?
I want the boot, it looks nicer when top is down but how to atach, i don't see any parts to install it.

I realy need your help here guy's ,
I want to order a top boot to cover the top when it's down.
They asked mee how to install the boot, with velcro or slide system.
It seems the 88 delmont (delta) is brought out both type's.
And i can't vind any parts etc, and need the easieest solution to install the topboot.
So when my olds is repainted i can place my new top on.

Boot
I have a 69 Delta and bought a boot that use the plastic pieces that slide under the chrome trim. On my car, there is a chrome trim piece that runs from the rear windows around the top well in front of the trunk. The plastic tabs on the boot slide under this trim ring. Inside the car near the rear seat back are 2 buttons that the boot also snaps on to. Just looking at the chrome trim piece would not be obvious that it would secure your boot.
The boot is secure and holds in place. I highly recommend one as I ran for years without one and the section of the top that faces the sky when down really got dirty and fades.

I am fairly certain you have the slide in method (velcro was barely around in 69) There should be plastic tabs attached every so often around the boot that slide under the chrome molding that surround the top area
Slide in, almost positive
My 66 98 has the slide in style.
Velcro was not used by GM in any meaningful way in 1969 to the best of my knowledge.
I've never seen a 60's factory fresh car with velcro. It's not a bad idea at all, it might be easier and perform better than slide in, it's just not factory.
Unless you're a stickler for "as Olds made it", make your own choice.

Thanks, it realy helped mee.
I was searching of somthing like a bold on slide frame.
But this makes sense, sticking it under the trim peace.
I ordered it allready and waiting it to deliver.
I'm living in the netherland you know and it's always divicult to get parts or else.
Even on meetings oldsstuf is rare
So i had to be sure that i had slide in stead of velcro, sending costs are not cheap if i had to send back.
But look it on the bright side, i found mee a guy to make the body nice again and found a paint shop.
So in 3 month of now it should be nice repainted and get a new top on.
so i can do the wirering and bolt on.
hardly can't wait no more
