Body Mounts
Body Mounts
I don't know if this has been asked before. Where can I buy a replacement set/kit of (Body to Frame) body mounts for a '68 Delmont 88 Cvt. ?
I've searched various sites on the web but haven't come up with anything
other than "A" body kits.....maybe I'm looking in the wrong places, maybe I'm not "wording" my search question properly?????....I'm stumped. Would "A" body kits work???
I thought of using Hockey Pucks that I can machine to size on my lathe...... but I'm unsure if they would be suitable for that application. I've machined hockey pucks to be used in several industrial applications & they worked out very well but for automotive use....I'm not so sure.
Can anyone give me a recommendation on where to find a kit?
Thanks for any help.

Larry, Thanks for the info.....I'll check them right out .....might get lucky.....fingers crossed.
I know that a good number of "B" body items are interchangeable between GM. divisions.
Seems to be lots of stuff out there for "A" bodies....use big-body guys aren't so fortunate.

Let us know how they work out. I went through that a couple of years ago with my '66 98. I ended up taking measurements and combing through the Steele catalog until I found something close - don't remember exactly what they were now. I think I needed a couple of different sizes. The item that gave me the most trouble was the metal cone in the center that originally required donuts with tapered center holes. I sort of fudged through that one! Some of the cones were badly rusted away and I was lucky to find a couple in a bone yard that had been left sitting on the frame when a portion of the body was removed. No one seems to save them when they part out these cars. They have no idea how hard they are to get.
I haven't taken the body off the frame yet.....once I can access the old body mounts, I can take some accurate (I hope) measurements to find out exactly what I need to replace the old units.
We still have a great deal of snow to contend with, can't drag the car out of storage yet.... hope the weather soon gets warmer to get rid of it all......can't come soon enough and we didn't get as much as folks in other parts of N. America.
I will let the forum know how things pan out as soon as I can get everything measured up and all that good stuff.
I checked out Andy's....that set Larry mentioned would in all likelyhood work but, I believe a convertible has 2 more body mount points than a hardtop does....will know for certain once I get into the teardown.

Anyone on this Forum ever used Andy's? They don't seem to have a good rep.....only saw bad reviews on them.
I realize you can't always please everybody but, the lack of good reviews makes me leery.

Energy Suspension Parts.com... has a set for 1965-70 Chev. full size cars....should fit similar yr. Olds cars. Set is $ 66.99 and listed as being "in stock". Part # 3.4138.
These are Black in colour & graphite impregnated....includes Rad & Body to Frame mounts for 2 Dr. HT. They show Red ones as well, but those are not graphite impregnated.
I'm going to check with the retired (85 yr. old) GM Master Mechanic that I bought one of my Olds 88 cars from.
He should know...he's a walking encyclopiedia concerning GM cars and what will interchange....he can rattle off part #'s and what fits what from memory.....it'll be a huge loss to me personally when he's gone...hope he stays around for a long time.

Wow Ron,I see all the bad reviews about Andy's.Sorry but I had just googled and saw that they listed those.I will remember to never order anything from there. That sounds like a good one to stay away from. Larry
I get curious about a prospective supplier I've never used before. I dig around a bit looking for any reviews that might be posted on other forums. Doing that has opened my eyes on more than one vendor who has a sketchy reputation and convinced me to avoid any dealings with them.
