'75 transmission problems

Hello all! I had my 75 delta 88 at a shop getting some bugs worked out and they replaced the transmission pan gasket, so I'm assuming they drained the fluid out and put all new in. After I got the car back it doesn't seem to want to shift out of first gear. Thankfully the garage was close to home so I didn't have to drive it far.

Reverse was fine, neutral was still in the same place, as well as park. But when I put it in drive, wouldn't go out of first.

Anyone have any thoughts or opinions on this or what I should check before I pull the engine and tranny?

Fluid level IS normal, right?

If the fluid level is normal the simplest thing is check the vacuum line to the vacuum modulator (round gizmus on side of trans with a steel and rubber line going to it). If the vacuum line is disconnected or crimped a THM will often not shift out of low or will be a very delayed upshift.

Past that it's probably a stuck governor.

X2 on above. The modulator also needs full manifold vacuum to operate correctly.

Thanks guys! I'm hoping you're right. I'll have to check when I get the car back.

So you don't think it's anything serious? I once heard that some shops won't change transmission fluid after so many miles for some reason. Not sure why
