I don't know of any aftermarket tanks. I pulled mine and cleaned and painted it. It was in good shape. The rubber hoses are known to crack on top of the tank making for hard starting. Wow, two 1971 Royales. There can't be many left. I know where one is. Good luck, Ken

Hi
Auto city lists tanks for 73 - 74 full size Olds. I saw you listed 71 - 75 maybe they have one that will work in your cars(s).

Yes, this is kind of weird. Places like Autozone and Rockauto show availability of new gas tanks for '73 and up full-size Oldsmobiles, but if you search their sites for '71 or '72, all you get, strangely, are tanks for the full-size wagons, which I would think there would be far less demand for.

I'm not sure what the difference is, if any, in the tanks for the '71 and '72 models versus '73 and later. It may just be a part number coding thing and the tank for the '73 really does fit the earlier models, or it may be that changes to emissions requirements over those years did mean changes to the tank, and so the '73 and later tanks really are different.

Having said this, if I needed a tank for a '71 Delta 88, I'd look very hard at what the tank in my car looks like and then look very hard at the photos of the tanks for the '73 models. If they look at all alike, I'd take a chance and get one for a '73. There might be an extra vent port or return line that you might just have to plug, but that's a small consideration when you consider the alternative, which is to not have a gas tank at all or have to try to find one from a donor car. In short, if it fits in the space and holds gas, it can likely be made to work. If it ends up not fitting or for whatever reason not working, you can return it (before you put any gas in it!).

71-72 tank has different evap system than 73 up. 73 up tank has a raise area around sender about 2 inches high. 71-72 tank to top is flat. i'm wondering about putting 71-72 cutlas tank in mine? i know it is smaller but has all the right fittings i have a 71 royal 2dr, 71 plane delta 88 2dr and a 71 98 4dr

Cars with a family history are a special thing. It is cool that you have your dad's car that he purchased new. Sorry to hear that he has passed.
Good luck with the restoration on your car!
