65 jetstar 88 with 425 installed

Car is almost done. Motor is installed (Paint came out wrong color )

I replaced the 260 that was currently in it with a 1966 425. Dropped in a new th400, had to re-weld a new cross member, and a new yolk on the drive shaft. New brake lines, u joints, ball joints, sway bars, etc.

Still have a few minor things to do like the heater core etc but it's too cold out to tinker with it.

Anyways enjoy.

A little vid of the exhaust, but the cell phone video doesn't pick up the deep tones very well, sounds much better in person.

Love it, love it , LOOOOVE IT!

Just remember you have a whole lot more go now than you have stop, unless you upgrade them teeny J-88 brakes.

Too bad about the color of the paint But I'm sure you'll enjoy the difference from driving it with the 260 to the 425 John

Sounds sweet,

Yes you need to add stop. First upgrade after putting the 455 in the 57 was front disc brake conversion.

I think he's talking about the engine color being close to Chevy orange, rather than the stock red.
I had a '65 Jetstar I the same color, but with the 425, T-400 w/switch pitch, and the 'towing package' 4:33 gear! Terrible mileage, but a terror out of the gates!
X4 on the brakes - metallic shoes will help - discs better!

Yes they are flowmaster 40's with dumps, good luck with yours. Do you have a jetstar also?

Thanks! Do you have any info on the route you took to get disc brakes? I've researched but had minimal luck. All I've found is that you have to re-fab the spindles for any other kits to work. I'd rather (if possible) switch the front end to a delta 88 front end, then upgrade to disc brakes

The radiator was provided from a local engine shop. Not sure exactly on the spec's of the cam. I bought the motor assembled but rusted. Replaced everything except for the cam.
