Hello new to the site. Was looking at a remanufactured carb on e-bay as a spare and was wondering if any one knew what the tube coming out the top side of the carb throat is. My original 2G Rochester does not have this. My car is a 65 OLDS DELTA 88. 425 HI COMP ENGINE.Here's the link. Thanks.

Looks like a float bowl vent tube to me......

 

I see the bowl vent tube (with angle cut) too. Are you referring to the short tube with the black cap on the rear of the carburetor? That's a "clean-air" tap for the choke. Air is drawn from that connector through the tubing in the choke stove in the manifold, then over the bimetallic spring in the choke housing by a vacuum passage behind the spring.

Yes, it's the tube at the back of the carb with the black cap. So this is a clean air intake pipe for the choke? My original carb does not have this. The choke stove pipe and plate connect to the intake manifold then to the choke. Is anythng suppose to connect to this fresh air pipe? or is it just a vent to draw air in? Thanks.

 

The later models used that connection as a source of clean air for the choke. The air flows out through that tube, down to the choke stove, then up to the choke coil, then through the port leading to vacuum below the butterflies.

 

If I leave the cap on this pipe can I connect this carb as my original is connected with the threaded stove fitting at the choke? Thanks.
