Any pictures or diagrams of true duals on a 55 Olds 88?

Thanks!

do you mean factory? As , as far as I know they never had them.

However I was looking on ebay last night and there is a '55 olds on there one that was resto'd for 45k should help you find it, there are a heap of photos of the underside of the car, so that would help you set up duals.

flatoz,

Thanks, I'm building a custom. Looking for how folks got duals to work.

I think I might center the fuel tank which should make things easier. Already pulled the spare tire well, as the bottom was rotted.

I'll go look at the 55's on E-bay to see what they did.

if your not already go and have a look over on the HAMB, there are a couple of people doing custom '55 olds there ( you may be one of them?)

Just they may be able to help you with the hard questions. No need to reinvent the wheel if you know what I mean.

Yeah, I spend way too much of my time over on the HAMB. Great hangout for sure and lots of really cool stuff to look at and read!

I think I've convinced myself to center the tank and make my life easier.

That E-bay car has the left tailpipe running across the bottom of the tank????

I'll just have it custom made once I get to that point.

Thanks again for the replies!

well i duno if this helps but, 56 had true duals from the factory so u can order a kit for a 56. the only thing you have to check is if the frame has the holes punched out already for it. my 56 is a orig single exhaust car but has the holes for the duals.................john

55 duals

Jozw30, I have duals on my all stock 55. The duals are not original and are a add-on. The problems are all on the left side of the car and will drive your muffler guy nuts if he does it correct. First he or you will need to punch a hole in the frame just like the right side for the pipe coming off the manifold, another in the X frame to get around the power steering vacuum tank, that is if you still have one, then down the right hand side of the left frame rail crossing between the spring perch and axel and out the back just like the right. You don't need to move the gas tank with this adaption and every thing is tucked away and neat looking. This takes many bends and a lot of trial and error to fit correct but well worth it. Sorry I don't have any pictures I did this 10 years ago and have lost them in a computer crash....Tedd

Thanks guys! I am pulling the body off the frame to strip and seal everything after I get the FatMAN stub installed next week.

I can add the frame openings at that time. I am also installing an LS2 motor (don't shred me please, this car had no engine, trans, or interior, and needed tons of floor pan work, and already had a Trans AM stub tacked onto the front.) with headers.

Wanted to build a hot rod instead of another resto.

Thanks again for all of the help.

Joe
