If you aren't concerned about "originality" I would suggest installing a Pertronix Flamethrower kit into the distributor before installing it. These will give you better driveability and more reliability than points. They are also reasonably priced.

The really nice thing about Pertronix is that unless somebody takes your distributor cap off, they will never know it is not original. Then the external adjustment points on the 57 distributor is not an issue. Just put the Pertronix in and go. You might want to regap your plugs.

Thanks Guys I have several Pertronix conversions in other cars I have and they have worked well. However I am also old school and don't think there is anything wrong with a points style ign system as long as it is in good working order. Plus they are very simple to fix. I have had one Pertronix conversion go bad and it was dead in the water so to speak.

No need to take the cap off.

It is obvious that the Igniter uses two wires between the distributor and the coil, while the original ignition only uses one.
