Bought replacement hood insulation for 1958 88 from Fusick automotive. How do I safely remove wooden strips that are holding up factory insulation? Do I need to reinstall them? How do I attach/secure new insulation??
Shows my ignorant's I didn't know there was any wood in mid fifties Oldsmobile's. I usually just use 3M super 77 or 90 for my insulation needs..... Tedd....

For 1958 the Olds parts book shows only the insulation; Group 8.021, part number 572513; fibre glass
i was considering that, he doesnt recall doing it, but he is 93 so.... anyway , the wood is undercoated like the remainder of the car is from the factory (or dealer, he doesnt recall). So that's how i theorized it was factory....which was just guessing

Much of that undercoating was sprayed on. Did the fiber glass or the steel underside of the hood have any undercoating on them? Unless more evidence or testimony is forthcoming, it may remain a mystery.
