1955 88 IS ALIVE WHA HOOO!

Finally , finally finally, The exhaust leak that turned into a full engine rebuild is fixed I have worked for 9 months at this and what do I have to show for it. Well I don't have pics yet as I still need to detail everything before I do. Anyway here is what I came up with when it was all said and done.

329 Cubic Inch Oldsmobile Rocket 88

Carb - Smoothed and polished the venturi's and rebuilt the carb.
Intake - Port matched to the heads and some work on top smoothing the sharp edges in the four holes. Painted the intake

Heads - New Intake valves , larger exhaust valves, hardened exhaust seats, new guides, new springs, new seals, ported the intake ports and blended the bowls to all the intake and exhaust ports, smoothed the short radius etc.

Cam - 3/4 race cam from Cam Craft

Block - Bored .030 and new pistons/rings, bearings, crank turned 10/10. Rods Lightened 40 grams/per and then rotating assembly balanced to make everything right. Painted all.

Exahaust - True dual exhaust with Thrush welded 2 chamber. It sounds like 50's again.

I think the tranny could be adjusted some, and my power steering is leaking under the reservoir but everything else seems o.k.

Having problems with the turn signals and dash lights,, need to check fuses.

Anyway I have broke in the cam, and driven the car some and it feels REAL NICE. Motor is very responsive to throttle input. Taking her easy for the first 500 to 1000 miles etc. I will try to get pics some time. Anyway, after much debate on doing the dreaded chevy swap. This olds is still all olds and it is very sweet.

Sounds good too! Oh well, much thanks to all of you who provided advice in my previous posts , and questions etc. Thanks and so far its really running nice.

How do the last 2 cylinders get the valves open if you only have 3/4 of a cam

Congrats on getting it going. Post pics as soon as you can.
