Auburn? Posi questions.....

I have a few questions about these units....

- How do you tell when they have gone bad and how do you rebuild them??

I never messed with these because the eaton style is so easy to work with. Those I can shim to my liking, do a quick break in and go.

Having seen the Auburn's
carbon fiber-esque frictions being held in place with cheesy clips, and drum brake-esque springs just makes me want to avoid them. I have found clips in the oil in a few people's diffs over the years, but none like the one today. I have only installed one of these units, and it was brand new in the GM box, so I wasn't worried about QC on that job.

Can you swap different frictions into these? They look similar to the Ford 8.8. And, for the love of god, can those friction clips be eliminated somehow?

I can't answer any of your technical questions but I wanted to subscribe. I have an Auburn posi in my silver car and I have beat the ever living crap out of it over the last 12 years and it's still holding up.
