Can anyone tell me the proceedure to change wheel bearing on a type o rear Code TO? Will the axels pull out? Do the new bearings need to be pressed on? Any info would be helpful as I never did this job before.

This thread described the newer style 8.5 rear end, but I believe the process is the same with the type O. You may have a different style bearing, open cone shaped vs sealed roller bearing, but they're both bolt in axles and I think the wheel bearings are both pressed on and off. John

Yes,the axles unbolt from the housing,& the bearings are pressed-on. The 67-69 Cutlass/442 O-axles came with a sealed bearing,& an inboard seal,pressed into the axle tube.Those numbers are RW507CR and 8594S. The 1970 O-axle came with a roller bearing,& an outboard seal,on the outer side of the bearing. Those numbers are SET-9 and 712146.
If you have the 67-69 style,you will want to inspect the axle shaft where the bearing is pressed on.These axles were a softer material,& they have a history of the bearings spinning on them,thus turning the diameter down,& making the axle junk beacause it can no longer hold the bearing or keep it perfectly centered in the shaft.
