Does anyone out there know how to externally tell what the gear ratio is on my 1971 Toronado fwd trans/diff? I thought there was two different ones available?
Yes, beginning the following year. In 1972, the Toronado standard gear ratio was 2.73. The 3.07 ratio was an option that was recommended if doing trailer towing and was required on California cars. It was the same for 1973. I don't have the info for later years on hand.

I probably will go for a 3.42 or 3.55 depending on availability. It's for my project vista that I bought a few years ago and haven't gotten very far on. I rebuilt the motor and trans but need to redesign the rear suspension for better safety. The previous builder took the frame and drivetrain from a 71 toro and cut the vista frame out of the back of the vista and put the toro one in.
Montevaleplace- That thing is amazing!! I'm sure everyone would like to take a better look at it! Why not start a thread on that car, or if you already one have bump it up, I would like to learn more about that one!!
