Ring and pinion pattern pictures 8.5 10 bolt
Hello everyone! Can you tell me if this pattern is tolerable? Its a 3.23 usa standard gear set on a eaton detroit truetrac carrier in my friends 71 Buick Skylark 10 bolt 8.5 rear end. Backlash is at 0.010 .
If this pattern is usable / tolerable, were gonna do the final pinion installation with the crush sleeve.

Well from what I can see of it... The drive side LOWER picture is pretty good ...The upper coast side appears a bit deep with the straight line at the valley of the gear...BUT maybe ok as the vehicle weight hits the tooth.
If it feels good and smooth and the shim (pinion is in the .033 - .040 you are probably going to be fine.
DO make sure after you final assemble the rear you recheck to be sure nothing has changed.
