Will a 68 malibu rear end fit in a 72 cutlass?

Hi! Can take my buddy's rear assembly from his 68 Malibu (originally mated to a 307 engine and a powergilde i believe) and put it into my 72 cutlass with TH 350 and 350 engine with little or no modifications that i would have to make?
Thanks!
Chris

Drive shaft length will be different. Use the Chevelle and it will work as long as they are both 2dr or 4dr cars.
