Where to find posi 342+ for my 70 Cutlass

My car (1970 Cutlass with AC) is yawning and wants better gears (posi). What is the best option for someone with a low attention span, enough cash and the desire to have my gal run when I kick her? I've heard you shouldn't run AC with higher gears and I'm ok with that.

I'll take suggestions for chevy route and I'll keep the current rear for when/if I sell it.

Thanks!

2 more rebuilt 8.5" 10-bolt posi rears,3:23 & 3:42

I have 2 more 8.5" 10-bolt posi rears that will soon be finished.I am doing one with 3:23's,and the other with 3:42's.The housings are hot-tanked,blasted,primed,and painted,Eaton posi,Motive gears,Timken bearings & seals.Filled with fluid & additive, and ready to run.Backing plates included, but no brake hardware. $975.00 plus the freight.
These came from 71-72 Cutlass/442's,but will fit any 64-72 GM A-body.These are a direct bolt-in,meaning that ALL of the mounting points are the same. For those of you with 64-65 Cutlass/442,this rear is 5/8" wider on each side,so check to make sure you have room to move your wheel outboard 5/8",or if you are in the process of getting new wheels, you can order the rear wheels with 1/2" deeper backspace,to keep the wheel centered inside the wheel house.
If you are swapping from an 8.2" 10-bolt,to this 8.5" 10-bolt,your driveshaft will need to be shortened about 3/4" due the the pinion snout on the 8.5 being longer,so you need less shaft to reach it.Any other questions, just ask.

gears or complete rear

Are you looking for gears or a complete built rear?

We need to know the rear under the car now if your buying gears.

Count the cover bolts and tell us if you have c-clip or bolt in axles.

OR send pictures of the rear cover area and will ID the rear this way you know what rear you have to by the correct parts. Jim

And don't worry about A/C 'til 3:90 gears and higher - my '69 442 had 3:42's and A/C from the factory!
Above prices are more than fair - check-out Strange's catalog for 12-bolts - but be sitting down!!
