I have a stock 72 olds with a 350 and i think s body...im wondering what the diff is...and do you guys think it could handle a 4.11 gear? is it possible tha my driveshaft snaps?

 

LOL. Stuff snaps when you have old parts and or installed wrong. Gears will not just make your drive shaft snap.... Especially oin the street your car can not get enough grip to do any kind of damage like your thinking.

1972 should have the 8.5
ratio factory could be 2.56 2.73 3.08 for a 350 equiped car.

4.10 is a lot of gear are you going to just hang around town and never hit the freeway? a 3.42 or 3.73 will be a big performance just for your car.

It is your choice - just trying to help you make a good one you will be happy with.

ok hahah just making sure..well i talked with my grandpa and we are going to put in a 3.73...thanks for the help though
