Upside down code stamping 1970 OLDS

Are all the rears with the two letter stamp on the tube to the passenger right of diff cover always stamped upside down? My Rallye SJ 3.91 was as is the SC 3.08 in the Cutlass Cruiser .

Every one I've ever seen was 'upside down'. I figured it was a function of however they were oriented in whatever jig they used when they built the rearends.

I believe the frames were loaded upside down so it was convenient for the workers to have the diff ID upright -for them-

The frame PN/ Letter ID sticker was still in place on the 1966 442 when it came to me in 2004- upside down- so I replaced it exactly as found.
