Opinion on what type pumkin

Ok, ok I now isn't correct but I have a furd 9" in my 48 and will be installing some kind of "Posi". I have read a ton of articles and am now stuck between a true-trac and a detroit locker. 455 pretty well built with a TKO600 5 speed.
Mostly street driven some track use for fun. What say all

IMO I would just stick with the clutches. I think lockers are more for the 4x4 crowd.

My $.02

I'd go with the locker.

Aftermarket trac lock will do the job

We have 4 pinion cross shaft trac lock billet case trac lockunits will do the job nicely.

Detroit locker will be a noisey headache and have bad road manners and if you have the money I guess the true trac will work good. JUST seems like there is NOT much room for the worm gears to work...

345.00 for the trac lock BRand New Nitro gear 28 or 31 spline posi.

I wouldn't use a locker with a manual trans on the street. A friend of mine tried a Detroit Locker with 4.10's in his 96 6-speed F-body (aftermarket 9" housing) and had all kinds of shifting problems. Since the issue started with the locker install, he borrowed my 4.33 Track-Lock unit to see what would happen and voila - transmission problems disappeared!

I use the harsher DL No Spin with 35 spline axles. The soft locker DL comes with 31 splines. Either is a great diff and doesn't need posi additive which slightly degrades the lubricating quality of the oil. With the steep hypoid angle, the Type F or "Dearborn" option differential needs the best oil you can get.
