I did one before he helped out. I was just curious on how to find out. I should be getting ready to do my gear set on pops car pretty soon. Last year I did the 3.73's on the finace's k5 blazer after I gernaded the snot out of em.

Yeah a rear gear will make a world of diffrence on your car. I drove my 72 with a 307 inbetween hurting the 350 and finishing my 355 I was building . And that wheezy little 307 moved but I did have 3.73 gears . It would spin them from a dead stop not holding the brake.

Is your dads car a 77 ? Do you know if the 76s and 77s have c clips or bolt in ?? Reason I'm asking is my car is in storage 1/2 away and have no access till the snow melts here in the spring . Jim in unsure as well. If unknown the price Diff is only $36 for the bolt in style so I'll maybe just get him to send both.

I would not worry about axles.

What sets are you talking about ? spider gears ? Im confused as to what set's you are talking about. The ring and pinion should not matter be it c clip or bolt in as long as it's the correct gear for the application.

Geez I don't know. Was given a price with a new posi unit , new 3:42 gears , install kit , New bearings seals and races , I just need to know if its c/clip or bolt in . the price for c- clip is $36. less than the bolt in type. But I'm unsure as to c-clip or bolt in .

I guess I will have to figure out what I have in the spring. I was wanting to buy parts over the winter so its not a huge $ hit in the spring. I guess there were different combinations used back in the day .

Side gears from BIA rearends do not have a recess for the c clip. The spiders should be the same between the 2.

Bolt in axles

Axle bearings will have nothing to do with the rest of the parts you need
rebuild kit is the same posi is the same and ring and pinion are all the same no matter what the axle retention type.
