Different length U-bolts
Different length U-bolts
Does anyone have any information on the different length u-bolts for the rear u-joint. I am having difficulty finding a u=bolt that is long enough to go through the yoke. I received a pair from Yearone that have the correct width but they are .25 to .50 short. Any help would be appreciated!
The car is a 69 442 convertible 4 speed manual tranny
Thanks
Mike

This is a surprise? Nobody else ever have this issue or see the difference? I'm pretty new to this so am I missing something? Feel free to call me an idiot, I will not be offended. I'm just looking for a resolution to get a part
I ran into this problem too. I couldn't find long enough bolts at any of the auto parts stores in town. I installed a 69 diff. in my 71 using the 71 driveshaft. This has been five or six years ago but I did get the right bolts from 507olds. It had something to do with the yoke and maybe u joint combo? I know our cars are not exactly the same but, hopefully these photos will help.

If 507OLDS has the Dorman number, you should be able to order some from your local parts store!
u bolts
I have been keeping USED ones also. ALL the NEW aftermarket parts are ALL over the place with length. It is truly incredible the crap that is out there.
The way of the future for all products. No one gives a hoot what is out there UNTIL they need the right part of course and it personally affect them.

I have gone to parts stores and had them pull all the u-bolts off the shelf that fit the application and did side by side tests and they could not believe they were all slightly different from u-bolt to u-bolt and manufacture. SO I can only tell you pull as many as you can at one store and take the best ones you can find. Jim
