78 delta 88 rear-end.
the rear-end in my 78 delta 88 went the other day, and i have been tring to find a rear-end ever since, what all can i pull the rear end out of, that will fit my car and still be able to use my driveshaft. i did find a rear end but don't know if i can use it, its out of a trans am, not sure on year, but one of them formula cars. it has posi track as well with is what i want, but will it fit up to my 4 link and will my driveshaft work. i as mainly becouse i can't afford to get a new driveshaft made up right now. any help would be great.
IDK if that will work or not.
Any B-Body from 1978 to 1990 will work, Caprice, Impala, Delta 88, LaSabre, and Parsinte.
If you get a different gear the speedo will have to be reset

1973 to 1996 full size 10 bolt 8.5 will all bolt in to the 78 delta 88. If you have a 10 bolt 12 bolt gut rear...it still should bolt in. The pinion shaft lenght is still the same. If you have a 7.5 rear you must stick with that size because of the pinio n shaft length being shorter. or you will have to modify the drive shaft length. shorter for a 7.5 to a 8.5 and longer for a 8.5 to a 7.5 rear. Ok? Jim
