Smile 69 cutlass swaping gears in my rear

so i have a 69 cutty it has i think .... ? a 8.5 "O" 12 bolt cover but 10 bolt gear plate ?

ITS coded R2 wich is 2.56 ratio wich really sucks cause im going for a street strip ( probly go to the strip just a couple off times ) but its just more for crusin around burnin the tires and tryin to get the front to lift up when i take off

What is the best / not to expensive ways what will it cost to go to 3.42 or even a little taller/ shorter ( herd it explained both ways ) 4.11 seems to be fore drag racing only and would not be good for cruising it will have a mildly buit 350 in it and posi would be nice but that all depends on cost also

has any one swaped out there 2.56 rear for somthing else please share thanks

Welcome to the site Jmac! Have you read through the wiki section to see what it says about rear ends? If not, here's the link to those pages.

Check it out and if it doesn't answer all the questions update your post. John
