273 to 331 feel a difference?

I scored a free set of 331 gears for my 12 bolt Chevy rear in my car!
What if any difference will I notice from the stock 273s?
Im also going to get a posi unit before I tear it all apart.

The 3.31s are a good all-around choice for a street car if you don't have an O.D. trans.

I felt good about them when My friend at the machine shop called and said HEY I got you some free gears!!!!.
They are out of a 68 Camaro rear that has been sitting since the mid 80s so they are very low miles and look new.
I have a bunch of stuff to sell to make me some spending money before I get a posi unit plus I have several other projects on the car to do first.

3.31 gears

This was Chevys Original SS gear so they should be great with any 3 speed Auto or 4 speed manual. PM me for posi price and rebuild kit if you need. Jim

Would the 331s since being a "SS" gear be rare enough to sell and make money to buy a set of 355s and would I want to go that route?

I doubt it also they won't fit the 2.73 carrier

The 3:31 ratio was not being reproduced by any gear manufacturers,so they brought good money when being resold. However, there are some being made now,so it dropped the value some, but there are still plenty of guys that want to real GM stuff.
While you are at it,check the condition of your original axle shafts, where the bearings ride.If they are worn, and you are getting a posi unit anyway, now is the time to get new 33-spline c-clip axles & matching posi. The price is the same.
