1972 cutlass rear diff

1972 cutlass rear diff

so i have my rear end apart and am sure what i have here. it has a number of 1235197, cdf, A, 8 on the front side of the diff. the ratio id 2:73. the axels are bolted on with out c clips.

this is a 8.5 rear end, right?

I have already bout everything for a 8.5 rear end aubutn posi carrier and 3:42 gear set.

do i have the right stuff? please help as i have it at a shop on a rack with a tech thats trying to help me put it together.

bump, my mechanic is questioing if this a 8.2 or 8.5. he wahts to start right now but wahts to be sure about what axel this is so he dosnt have to do this twice.

u-bolts or straps with bolts holding the u-joint on? if its bolts and straps than its an 8.5, if its the u-bolts then its an 8.2 i am 99.9% sure its an 8.5

Yes,that is an 8.5" 10-bolt.
