i purchased a 8.5 10 bolt 28 spline for my car and i am hoping this is correct since now i hear they made some with 8.2, it also came with 3.73 gears, is this good for a mild 455 with th350 tranny? thanks for any info

 

Post some pictures and/or the numbers cast into the pumpkin and stamped in the axle tube. Someone here should be able to key it out for you. If your sure it's a 1971 then it should be an 8.5. I believe the 8.2 ring gears were 1964 into 1967 (1967 also had type O rear ends).

ALL 71-72 Cutlass/442's came with the 8.5" 10-bolt.
