I have a 1970 98 LS Hardtop with the Oldsmobile O Axle, and it appears a punch weld has started to leak. Is that what you call those little disc shapes? How do you fix these? I haven't noticed any on the pan underneath but it is always wet there.
I'm probably not going to be much help, but I see what you are referring to. I don't know what they call them, but repairing it is going to be a PITA, likely requiring removal of the axle, complete disassembly and clean-up, and re-welding it (or using some sort of sealant, possibly from the inside). You might get by with just clean-up and re-welding / sealant from the outside (avoiding axle R&R). Since it is such a small leak, if this were my car, I'd let that sleeping dog lay.
I've never encountered this before. If you don't want the drip in your garage yet don't want to go through dismantling things to weld it up, what about an epoxy? You'd have to clean it really well, but maybe that would be worth a try?
Sounds like leaving it be unless it gets worse is the best bet. It's been this way for a little while but I was just curious if there was a way to fix it.
