Post 1972 442 grill vs original grill question

I just talked to a guy from fusick automotive concerning the 1972 442 grill (FIT) issues that alot of people have had.He said this sis how they were designed to fit because it's suppose to be a super tight fit.I know the original cutlass grill are repros also,Does this mean that they are also hard to get into the stoneshield as well? Also has anybody found a company that has a more accurate 442 grill or are all of the main companies selling them the same.I want to convert my cutlass grill to 442 grills but I'm afaid because of the stuff I've seen people go through here on the forum to make it work....

I put 442 grills on my 72 VC years ago, no problem. They were aftermarket one, I think from Fuisik.

hmmmm.

Its so weird and making me sketchy about buying them because it seems to be a divide. Some people say that they installed 442 grills on there supremes with no issue at all and yet others have these horror stories of broken tabs and stuff just not lining up.I prefer that 442 grill look so much over the normal grill that Im going to pull the trigger anyway! Thanks for the reply

The metal posts that hold the front trim in place are ok EXCEPT for the top inboard one. It's way too high and interferes with the installation of the grill. Simple way to fix is to pull off the metal ring fastener and clip the pin flush.

Here's a link that shows the major problem. We've discussed it before so if you want to read the whole thread from the beginning it will bring you up to speed with the repop 442 grills. They are the same ones flogged by all the vendors.
