That's pretty wide open. What kind of advice are you looking for? I never cared for the T tops because they were noisy, leaked and took up a lot of trunk space. Had that on my 82 and sold it a year later. The 230 CI engine grossly underpowers the car. It's a Buick engine BTW. Nice riding car, but nothing special about it.

I'm just looking for any advice on things to watch for, or difficult repairs. I know a little about the Buick 3.8 I eventually want to get into some performance parts. I originally though about a 455/TH400 with Lightning Rods, but I think i'll keep the 231 for quite awhile

The T top channels can rust out. There are kits to rebuild them though. Steel Rubber has the T top rubber parts.

If you're going to a 455, instead of the TH400 consider the 200 4R. It will give you the same bottom performance plus it has an overdrive gear that yields .67:1 at final drive. It will bolt up to a 455. Just need to setup the TV cable properly.

BTW, the lightning rod shifters (Hurst) were only offered on the 83/84 HO's so getting them will be a real hunt.
