need advice and or opinion on Lojack

My friends classic truck was stolen from right outside his house a couple weeks ago. He had an alarm but also had the hood that can open from the outside. We think the thief's opened the hood, cut the wires and towed his truck. Ever since then i have been looking into some kind of anti theft device i can put in my car. I got a promo code for a lojack for my car, it will knock $400 off the total price. I was wondering if anyone here had experience with lojack. thanks

Alarms keep honest people honest! I'm not really familiar with Lojack, but again it is something that does not prevent the car from being stolen, I believe it comes into play to locate it after that process. If someone wants it way more than you, it will get stolen. With the older cars, it's hard to prevent one from being hotwired. Good luck with your quest!

I've spoken to Auto Theft Task Force guy's and they say it's great. My experience is GPS trackers and they have worked great.

Remember, LoJack works off of its own network, and not off of GPS, and their network covers a limited area (see this list), therefore, if the car is taken beyond their coverage area, it is gone (and don't think car thieves can't read that web page).
Of course, if you don't live in the coverage area, you can't even get it.

I was thinking of an alarm with gps, but read various reviews online that gps doesn't always properly work and my guess is that if they disconnect the battery then the signal would be lost. I might just go ahead and do the lojack then, doesn't seem that expensive.

I think that C2C deal would be well worth it, providing the monthly isn't too high!!
Especially if you've friends/teenagers/wife that drive the car!!

I have LoJack, but IDK if the system even works anymore around here. LoJack is an old system.

Look into the GPS system

Lojack knows where you are every step of the way. It is similar to OnStar. Satellite uplinks locate vehicle anywhere.
The bad, don't perform anything associated with the dark side. They will locate that car in a second. Irrespective of that, if you don't mind being tracked, "feel free". It is bulletproof. With one exception, which I shall not mention, no one can 'steal' the car.

I have it in my 94 Pontiac 25th Anniversary Trans Am. So far so good, I hope I never need it.
