Changing the front Springs in my 76

Just wondering how to go about changing the springs in my 76 cutlass "S". I just dont see what angle to tackel this from. Will there be enough room if i drop that arm? Im also guessing i will need to find a spring compresser. Any help with this would be much appreciated. I am not much of a mechanic. Thanks

You need to use a hydraulic jack and bring the lower control arm down slowly. Be very careful doing this. Don't forget to remove the shock. Good luck. I usually get my springs banded for the fronts. Makes it easier to install.

There's a fair amount of hazard in the stored energy in the spring, you should get spring compressers. If you have the $$ it would be better to have a front end shop do it, your going to need an alignment either way.

Thanks. I have contacted a local store about renting some compressers. We just took out one of the springs by droping the arm and braking the old spring free with a hammer then carefully slipping out the old spring. These new springs are stiff as hell. compresser tommorow for sure. Thanks for all the help guys.
