1972 cutlass supreme
1972 cutlass supreme (price check)
I found a 72 cutlass the other day and checked the numbers. It has a '68-'71 455 but the vin says the car was bult with a 350. There is also a fair amount of rust, the vinly is missing, and the interior is in alright shape. He is asking 1500. Is that a fair price? It seems a little high to me. What would be a good counter offer?
Thanks for your help

Thanks for your help
Hello, How is the frame, trunk & floors, inner wheel-wells? Also especially if it had a vinal top the rot between the rear window and the trunk-lid, they call that area the trunk filler panel. Check the core support under the battery area. Maybe you can guess that I have been there on a 72 Supreme, ya I did one. Although I believe it is worth $1500 if it runs good but I would start at a $1000 and show him the money! Then try to split the difference, say $1250. Does it have disc brakes? Later, Ken
Well I am going to go test drive the beast today so I will make sure I take a good look at it inside and out, and check all those spots you mentioned. Thanks for the reply, I'll let you know what happens.
Hello again, I had just posted this in another forum about a 1972 Supreme project car of mine. About 8 years I have been "messing" with it off & on, more off the last 3 years!
, I am going to try to paste the message, hey it might work. Later, Ken Falling "in & out" love with an Olds
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My problems with Olds is I go in one direction then after a while I go in another, aka too many cars. I jokingly call in "falling in & out of love." This is one of my on/off Olds love affairs. We have been together "8" years. She (1972 Supreme)started off as a $500 project car. I should have parted "her" out. I really like the "S" Cutlass better. Things I have done to her. Frame replaced with one from Arizona, got it in another deal, new quarter panels, wheel-wells, trunk floor, doors, front fenders, trunk filler panel, ram air hood, radiator core support, bumpers, new body bushing/suspension/brakes, interior redone. Original numbers matching drivetrain, even though I am not a numbers matched guy. I did tweek it a bit. 350 engine rebuilt, cam/pistons/intake/yada,yada. Trans was done by a local guy, Rossler Racing trans., rear end is a 3:73 posi done by KTR. I would work on it off and on but I would fall in love with another Olds and put it on the back burner. I have had the car pretty close to done for over 3 years. I am hoping to renew the "love" this year. She is painted the original Viking Blue. I have a dozen Olds in various stages from done to "not enough life left in me." I am going to make an effort to pare the fleet down a bit. Here is a pic or two. She looks better than this pic. I changed the wheels & tires but she is buried in one of my buildings right now. Ken 3-14-2007-31.jpg
