79 W-30 Hurst/Olds value?

Ya a new guy! I know this is a VERY open ended question, so I was just looking for a guesstimate. A friend of mine has the car, 79 Hurst/Olds, black and gold t-tops (1 of 5?? something) Drove as a everyday driver for like 10 years, car all original except motor (76 350 rocket) with a broken timing chain. Guy can't afford to do right so wants to give it to a good home. Body is in fair shape, no carpet because of Leakey t-tops, so floor boards are spotty. So what do think a ballpark figure would be? Any thoughts or interest? Thanks

They're nice cars, but not a huge demand for them yet. I knew a guy who had a nice one, no T-tops but lots of other options and all original. He was asking $3,000 and got no takers even though it was on the market for about a year. I don't know what he ended up taking but for some reason this year doesn't bring a high price. If you want to put it together for a driver it could be fun, but I wouldn't focus on making a lot of money with it.

I don't think he's worried about making a lot of money, if fact he would probably be happy just to get his money back ($3500 I think is what he paid) but that may be hard with a non-running car.
