i have never seen one with 3 on the tree and i have seen 100s of them. i would think it is rare. the 425 engine would not be original, i think it would have come with a 350 or 6 cylinder. welcome to CO and there will be someone with more info soon.

Three-on-the-tree was the std transmission for all '68 A-body models except the 442.

Welcome to the site! Yes, a couple years ago I almost bought a 1968 F85 with a 6 cylinder engine and three on the tree. If you wern't concerned with staying original you have lots of parts there you could use to install a 4 speed on the floor. I have never seen a 425 engine with a manual transmission. The person who installed it must have modified the crank to use the manual transmission input shaft. Are you sure it's a 425? John

Sounds like a nice car. The 65/66( maybe even 67s) b-bodies had the 425 and could be gotten with a 3 or 4 speed. Rare and desirable, but they're out there.

'65-'67 B-bodies (the big cars, except 98s and Toros) came standard with the 3-spd column shifts. '65 and '66 had 4-speeds available.
