Cool Pertronix coil wiring

1970 Cutlass 350, I'm trying to bypass the resistor wire and wire my coil to the ignition terminal on the fuse box. I disconnected what I think is the resistor wire (black?) and connected a 12 gauge wire to the ign terminal and to the coil and I'm getting no voltage at the coil and car will not start. Not sure if I'm missing something or if that terminal is dead. Any help or ideas are greatly appreciated!

Resistance wire was usually pink when new and turned brown as it aged.

Why not tap into the wire going to the coil ahead of the resister wire ?

I honestly do not even know if I have a resistor wire. I have a yellow wire going to the starter and a very dark wire (black or brown) going to the wiring harness. I'm getting 10 volts at the coil.

10 volts at the coil IF the battery voltage is 12.6 indicates that their is a resistance wire causing the voltage drop.

When connecting the coil to the battery I get 12-14 volts so there seems to be resistance. If anyone can help me bypass the resistor wire that would be a great help!

I just did this on my 65.
I'm not sure if it's the same for 70...but on my harness, the resistor wire is only from the firewall to coil.
The pink wire from the ignition to the firewall was an unresisted pink wire.

I found a TinLok terminal and replaced the resistor wire from the block forward.

I'll look in to that - thanks!

Check the adjacent directional signal/backup lamp fuse if the IGN terminal does not have power.

The IGN terminal in the fuse block should be active when the key is turned on. In the past, folks have posted wiring diagrams showing that IGN terminal is fed from one of the adjacent fuses, but I don't remember which one. If that fuse is blown, your IGN tap would not have voltage.
