Voltage to coil.....

Hi all electrician guys, on a 71 cutlass 442, what kind of voltage should I get to the + terminal of the coil If the ignition wire has not been altered, I think it's a resistance wire of 1.35 ohms right ?
I need to change and relocated the coil to it's original position, the current setup is an accel coil (14001) coupled with an external ballast.(will remove it)
Will the voltage depends also on how many ohms I have in the coil ?
And I have to add the missing yellow wire that goes from that + terminal to the starter solenid, but what should be the wire gauge ?

Thanks
Patrick

The resistance wire will measure full battery voltage VDC unless a load/amp draw is placed on the wire. No load i.e., points open and wire disconnected = full battery voltage, load i.e, ignition points closed wire connected = approx 6 VDC, with the car running and the points opening and closing around 9 VDC.

Yellow wire gauge? sorry, IDK.

Thanks Sugar bear, for the yellow wire, it's suppose to go from the "R" connector on the starter solenoid to the coil + to bypass resistance wire on startup,
but I don't know what wire gauge to use, well me be the wire is hiding somewhere in the loom, I'll have to check that.

Thanks and sorry if my english is not up to the task.

The full color wiring diagram and all wire gauges is located in the CSM. You can also look this up yourself in the full color 1971 wiring diagram (sticky) contained in the electrical forum.

Just following up on this for you. As sometimes happens, the wiring diagram doesn't illustrate the gauge number for the Yellow Wire from the IGN coil to the starter solenoid. It states "Yellow". If you evaluate the other Yellow wire(s) you'll note they are 16GA; albeit, the Yellow wire from IGN coil to starter solenoid should be 16GA.
