Relocating a power bench seat

Hi guys, I have a power bench seat in my 1972 supreme, and I wanted to move it back a couple inches. I started the project today but quickly found that there is something strange about the rear 2 seat mount bolts. From underneath I can see the anchor that the bolt threads into but from inside there is no bolt to remove! It almost appears as if the rear of the seat is welded to the floor.

anyone have any experience with this?

Anything is possible with a 46 year old car, however we can't see what your looking at. As far as moving it back, search for seat relocation brackets that you can duplicate or buy.

Welcome to the site Jeff! Yes, the power bench seat had a bracket welded to the floorpan. There's been a few posts on this and I'll try to find them.

Here's a really old thread with some photos from my 1971 wagon. I'm thinking there's a newer thread with better photos, but I haven't found it yet.

Then I know there's been discussions about moving a seat back for someone who's taller, but I've not found it yet either. The search function here isn't always easy to work with.

Well, I feel pretty stupid..... once I raised the seat (it's a power seat after all....), I was able to see the rear mounting nuts. There are 2 rear mounting nuts on each side very hidden by the seat and mechanisms.

Many reproduction houses sell extensions to mount the seat back farther, or in my case I turned it around to allow the seat to move forward a couple of inches for my girls to drive
