My First Olds 1968

I bought my first Olds. It's a 68 Cutlass S. I bought it from my best friend who has had it since he was 16.

Just some more info on it:
It's got the original Rocket 350 in it. Unfortunately, it has front and rear drum brakes. It has a 2-speed auto transmission. Other than that I don't know much more about it.

Why is it unfortunate that it has drum brakes and a 2 speed? You plan on driving 120 miles per hour in a school zone?

Nice car by the way.

Having had the front brake shoe linings disbond from the shoes during a panic stop on my 68 VC, I'll concur that drum brakes are unfortunate. Similarly the Junkaway trans.

As noted, factory disk brakes are just about a bolt on and the TH350 swaps in with very little effort.

Welcome to the site lools like a straight body. This will make a great project car. Turbo 350 trans upgrade with help the 350 come alive. Disc brake conversion is another good upgrade. You will find the how to on this site. Have fun with your new toy

I just pick up a '68 Cutlass also. Looks like a twin. I too am going to do a disc convertion and dual exhaust. The trans works real good so far, so since it is not broke, I'm not going to fix it for now. Maybe later, a few other things need to be done.
A great looking car.

My best friend is now 25. He has a 70 Chevelle SS that he bought about 5 years ago and the cutlass has been sitting since then.
